In what feels like a lifetime ago, before we even had come up with the name On The Box the team spent a long time talking to agents, vendors and buyers to understand what they were looking for in a website. During those talks over coffee, tea and a few beers the biggest topic of conversation was that everyone just wanted something different, easier and quicker to what was already out there.

AuctionsPlus, Farmgate, Fivestock, Elite / Stocklive, The Herd Online and others have paved the way for On The Box. I was recently down at the southern weaner sales and watched a market op from AuctionsPlus handle a challenging interfaced sale with great skill. It was another example of the work AuctionsPlus and others do at interfacing sales.

When we talked with agents, vendors and buyers they were generally happy with the service they were being provided for these sales - we did not think we could improve on what was being offered which is why we have decided to not offer an interface / stud service.

This is also why we have continued to talk with agents, vendors and buyers. It was through these chats that we came up with our pricing, colours, name / logo, lot based approach, deciding to not advertise, terms and conditions to name a few. Our belief is that we have a responsibility to talk with agents, vendors and buyers when it comes to any decisions which impact their ability to use the website.

Our goal at On The Box is not to be confused with AuctionsPlus and other players. Our belief is that the industry deserves something different so that is what we will continue to do.
